Water Department

The Water Department is responsible for operating and maintaining the Water Treatment Plant and the City's distribution system. The City's Water Department provides high quality drinking water to its consumers, ensuring it meets State Drinking water standards. The City's Water Staff all maintain water operations and/or distribution licenses issued by the State. They are responsible for:
- Plant operations & maintenance
- 24-hour emergency response
- Distribution system repairs
- Record keeping and reporting to regulatory agencies
- Back flow device inspection
- Annual system flushing program
- Monthly meter readings
- Utility location
- Installation of customer meters and related equipment
- Correspondence with regulatory agencies
- Issuing notices to customers
- Maintenance of fire hydrants
- Reservoir, Dam, and watershed operations and maintenance
- Assists with the preparation of Requests for Proposals for consultant contracts
- Assists Engineering with the preparation of Plans and Specifications for water related City Projects
- Prepares Annual Consumer Confidence Report
